There is a cliché that those individuals who are single will own a veritable fleet of cats. And whilst this may be an unfair stereotype, it may well be one that singletons should aspire to.
Companionship is important for all of us, and those that live lone may find that they have fewer chances to share their burdens or simply feel the comfort of another being beside them. Owning a pet has been proven to reduce blood pressure and boost mood significantly, and those who own a pet are likely to be healthier and happier than those that don’t.
This is a benefit for any individual, and even those who wish to remain single to avoid the stresses of a relationship are going to find they are happier and in better shape if they own a pet than if they don’t. For many, coming home to an empty house can make one feel isolated, and a furry friend is likely to completely change that, whether one is single by choice or simply hasn’t found the right person yet.
Single owners are likely to form a much closer bond with a pet than those who are married and it is not just women who will be better off owning pets. Single men are just as likely to benefit, and the number of single males owning cats and dogs has soared over the past few years.
With the right animal feed and the right love and affection, a pet may be the best friend you ever have and for those that live alone they can make the home a far more loving and welcoming place.
